Wrapped in Oak
This Silver Spring home needed both floors to feel like the same house. We renovated the kitchen and basement together, using white oak and natural stone as a consistent thread throughout. On the main level, white perimeter cabinetry recedes around a thick-cut white oak waterfall island. A custom wood slat ceiling tray overhead carries the warmth upward and draws the two surfaces into conversation.A new white oak cable-rail staircase connects the levels, with integrated shelving built into the structural nooks along the descent. The lower level holds a wet bar and entertainment space, along with an expansive, spa-like bathroom where the palette shifts. The centerpiece is a grand, all-in-one wetroom, where a freestanding tub and shower share a seamless footprint atop black stone floors. Vertical ribbed wood-look tile and the same slatted texture from above bring the design language downstairs without repeating it, creating a high-end, immersive sanctuary that anchors the entire level.
