Maison de Porcelaine
This remodel replaced a narrow, enclosed galley with a bright kitchen rooted in clean minimalism. For years, the house felt divided by a central masonry chimney and a heavy load-bearing wall that isolated the back of the home and choked off the light. By removing these structural barriers, we opened a long, clear view that connects the front door directly to the garden. The heart of the story is the rear porch, which we captured and transformed into a fully conditioned dining room. To keep the layout feeling airy, we utilized white frameless cabinetry and glass-front uppers that catch and reflect the light from the expansive windows. By rebuilding the walls and leveling the floors, the addition feels like it was always part of the house—turning a once-constricting layout into a unified space that finally feels as open as the view outside.
