Brick Heritage

This Capitol Hill row home was redesigned to maximize storage and seating without disrupting the essential path between the front door and the garden. By extending the island lengthwise rather than outward, we preserved the home’s natural flow while routing plumbing through the floor to keep the cabinetry lines remarkably clean. Bold Pacific Teal cabinetry on the island serves as the centerpiece of the first floor, while Overcast Matte cabinets stacked to the tall ceilings recede to let the color lead. The design finds its rhythm in the details—a wainscot panel runs the full length of the island, and slim carved legs on the seating overhang lend the piece a furniture quality that holds its own in the room. Original brick and a pressed tin ceiling panel ground the renovation in the home's own history, bridging the new blue-green glass tile backsplash with the house's original character. Features like a pocket-door appliance garage and a cast-iron apron-front sink are integrated with precision, ensuring the kitchen’s linear profile remains uninterrupted from the moment you step through the front door.
