Grounded in Stone
We reimagined an unfinished lower level as a high-functioning extension of the home, built to handle the weight of daily family use. By reconfiguring the footprint, we converted underutilized square footage into essential living area— by designing a generous living space that shifts between a recreation room and a dedicated play area.To resolve the home’s original disconnect from the landscape, we installed a wall-to-wall navy wet bar and positioned it to open directly onto a new flagstone patio and cedar pergola. This structural shift creates the direct link to the backyard the house previously lacked, effectively pulling the basement out into the garden. By balancing modern utility with the house’s original character, the renovation offers a flexible environment that moves effortlessly from afternoon play to evening hosting.
