Cherry Curves
This renovation was a study in honoring decades of personal history while reengineering a home for a new phase of life. To improve circulation and support aging in place, we replaced the sharp angles of a static 1980s layout with sweeping radius forms. Utilizing custom-engineered Natural Cherry cabinetry, we mirrored the home’s semicircular architecture with a continuous cathedral grain that runs uninterrupted across the peninsula, allowing the cabinetry to feel like a structural element rather than a series of boxes. While the project focused on large-scale flow, we remained mindful of the home's smaller histories—specifically the "Kissing Corner," a sentimental passthrough we preserved and integrated into the new custom cabinet suite. We also expanded the homeowners' signature turquoise accent wall across the full back elevation; by stretching the color the entire length of the room, the once-isolated accent became a thoughtful architectural statement that anchors the light-filled space. Every detail serves a dual purpose: meeting the requirements for intuitive, long-term navigation while anchoring the home in the stories and rituals that make it theirs.
